Throughout March and April, we welcomed 76 participants to Mountain T.O.P. to serve on multiple home repair projects. From middle schoolers to college students to older adults, all our participants helped us move the needle on substandard housing in our community.

Each year at our George Bass Brick and Mortar event, we honor a selection of important community partners and volunteers.

Jacob Sorenson, director of the Effective Camp Research Project and author of Sacred Playgrounds: Christian Summer Camp in Theological Perspective, identifies five fundamental characteristics of Christian summer camp: safe space, participatory, relational, unplugged from home, and faith-centered. Mountain T.O.P. practices all these characteristics by offering an inclusive community where all participants are welcome to be fully themselves. By serving others, meeting new people, and spending time in nature, our participants step into a new rhythm of life and explore new expressions of faith. 

There are thousands and thousands of reasons to celebrate our 50th Birthday! It truly is a Jubilee, 50 years of making a difference and answering the call to serve.

Mountain T.O.P.'s theme this year is Jubilee. The English word Jubilee is derived from the Latin word, Jubilaeus (U baily oos). It means a celebration of rejoicing. Join me with shouting out in the good ole Mountain T.O.P fashion Hallelujah and shout it with me three times with a crescendo each time. Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah! 

My name is Derek Stienmetz, and I’ve had the privilege of being connected to Mountain T.O.P. since 2012. Over the years, I’ve experienced the joy of serving on summer staff and now have the honor of bringing my congregation to partner with Mountain T.O.P. annually. There are countless reasons that keep me coming back: their mission, theological perspective, and commitment to affirming and inclusive ministry practices.
