In a world where the image of “family” is ever-changing and somewhat distorted, Mountain T.O.P. offers a weekend to refocus on your family and what they mean to you. As Christians, we recognize that we are adopted sons and daughters of the Father, allowing us access to a world-wide family of believers. As members of that family, we work with zeal, passion and purpose for the advancement of God’s Kingdom, lovingly extending our hands to those in need. Unfortunately, there are times when doing so outside of our homes is easier than reaching out to the individuals within our homes. We must ask, do the principles by which we abide by when approaching service translate into how we love and care for our own families? It’s not that we don’t possess the will to treat one another well, but that the more intensely we love someone, the harder it is. During Family Weekend, we want to offer you a unique opportunity to serve families in the Cumberland Mountains through working and worshipping with your own family. Here, you will find a place to work on replenishing, renewing and reclaiming the needs of your family.
Logistically, families arrive Friday evening, work in the community on Saturday and leave Sunday morning after breakfast. Projects are based on the skills of family members and the expressed needs of the families we work with. On Saturday evening, we gather together for worship. Other programming options include group morning devotionals and/or personal reflection time.
Family weekend runs the third weekend in April. Cost is $50 for children 12 and under, $60 for 13 and over, and no more than $200 per family.
2010 Dates:
